aqualyx - fat dissolving treatment

long lasting fat dissolving treatment FOR THOSE STUBBORN AREAS FROM our private clinic in westerham

WHAT IS AQUALYX?

AQUALYX is a long-lasting injectable fat loss treatment. It is a gel-based solution, derived from cholinic acid, which is produced by our bile duct to help us break down fats. It is licensed for use in the UK for localised or spot removal of fat from areas such as the chin, knees, stomach, hips, thighs or under the buttocks. Clinical data shows that the application of AQUALYX is effective and safe, leading to an increasingly contoured appearance.

HOW DOES AQUALYX WORK?

The body has its own system in place for burning excess body weight. Acidic bile is naturally produced by the liver to aid in the process of breaking down fat. AQUALYX uses a synthetic form of this acid (deoxycholic acid) that’s derived from plant-based ingredients, so it’s safe to use in the body. It’s delivered to the fatty areas through a needle injection. The acid works to eliminate fat by breaking down the structure of the fat cells. Once broken down, fat cells are dissolved or liquified, which will escape the cell and the fatty liquid can be easily burned as the body metabolises it.

HOW SOON WILL I SEE THE RESULTS?

The number of treatments required varies depending on the size of the fatty deposit. Results can be seen from 1 session however, typically, 1-3 treatments are needed for small areas such as the jowls and under the chin, and 2-8 treatments for larger areas such as the stomach and thighs. Treatments are spaced at 4-6 weekly intervals. When fat cells have been treated by AQUALYX, they are permanently gone as long as there is no weight gain. Clients must be advised that in order to ensure long-lasting results they are to continue to exercise and maintain a healthy diet.

DOES IT HURT? IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME?

Before treatment, you can apply a topical anaesthetic to minimise any pain or discomfort during the treatment, although it is not necessary. Larger areas may lead to more discomfort as these areas would naturally require more injections. Slight erythema and bruising may be prominent for up to 48-72 hours after treatment, swelling can take anywhere between 24 hours-2 weeks to subside. Over-the-counter painkillers can be taken but it is advised not to take anti-inflammatory painkillers such as ibuprofen as they will work against the treatment.
